Ingredients:
1 cube margarine
2 one-oz. squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1 1/2 c sugar less 1 tbsp
1 1/2 c flour (yes, really only 1 1/2 c!)
1 1/2 c buttermilk plus 1 tbsp
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp soda
Melt together margarine and chocolate. Add sugar and mix well.
In large bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Add chocolate mixture and mix well. Batter will be very thin. This is normal. Do not add more flour, or cake will be dry!
Bake at 350°in greased and floured small square pan until done, about 30-40 mins. Check with toothpick.
Frosting:
1 cube margarine
8-9 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp vanilla
about 1 1/2 lbs powdered sugar
enough milk to make it spreadable
Mix together all ingredients until smooth and spreadable.
Frosting may also be used with Brownies
